§ 19406 District Formation Protest Termination

Key Takeaways

  • •If half the voters in a new area don't want it to become a district, they can stop it.
  • •They have to write down their protest to make it count.
  • •The protest only works if at least 50% of the voters who voted in the last big election sign it.

Example

A neighborhood is trying to become its own school district, but many people don’t want that.

If half the voters who voted in the last big election write a protest, the plan to make the new school district stops.
