§ 18451 Library District Budget Submission

Key Takeaways

  • •The library commission must send a budget plan to the library board every year by June 1st.
  • •The budget must include costs for things like renting space, buying land, building or fixing up library buildings, and furnishing them.
  • •This is to make sure the library has enough money to run and improve for the next year.

Example

Imagine your local library needs a new building because the old one is too small.

The library commission would include the cost of buying land, designing the new building, and filling it with books and furniture in their budget plan. They must send this plan to the library board by June 1st so the board can approve it and make sure there’s enough money.
