§ 17569 School District Street Improvements

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools can fix up streets and sidewalks near their property, like adding pavement or sewers.
  • •They can build things like pedestrian tunnels or footbridges near schools if it helps students or school staff.
  • •Schools can buy land or rights to use land for these projects.
  • •They can spend money to pay for these improvements, whether they do the work themselves or hire someone else.

Example

A school wants to build a crosswalk so kids can safely walk across a busy street to get to school.

The school can decide to build the crosswalk, pay for it, and even buy a small piece of land if they need to. This makes it safer for kids to get to school.
