§ 17457 School Property Sale Restrictions

Key Takeaways

  • •Schools can sell or lease their property, like land or buildings, to get money.
  • •The money they get from selling or leasing cannot be used for everyday school stuff like paying teachers or buying supplies.
  • •The money must be used for specific things, not just regular school expenses.

Example

A school sells an old building to a company.

The school gets money from selling the building, but they can't use that money to pay for things like teacher salaries or new textbooks. They have to use it for something else, like building a new gym.
