§ 17436 School Facilities Plan Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •The school board must wait at least 30 days after sending out notices before making a decision.
  • •They will look at any written complaints from people during this time.
  • •They can either stop the plan or go ahead with it if the property owners agree in writing.

Example

A school wants to build a new playground on some land near homes.

The school sends letters to the homeowners telling them about the plan. The homeowners have 30 days to write back if they don’t like it. After 30 days, the school board reads all the complaints. If most homeowners sign a paper saying it’s okay, the school can start building the playground.
