Key Takeaways

  • •Schools can make deals with companies to build school buildings on school land.
  • •The school will own the building and land after the deal ends.
  • •The school must pick the cheapest responsible builder who offers security.
  • •The school must advertise the project in a local newspaper for two weeks before choosing a builder.

Example

A school needs a new classroom building but doesn’t have enough money to build it right away.

The school can make a deal with a construction company. The company builds the classroom, and the school pays rent to use it. After some years, the school owns the building and land. The school must pick the cheapest good builder and tell everyone about the project in the newspaper first.
