§ 17374 School Building Repair Funds

• •If a school district had extra money from a tax increase before July 1, 1975, they can still use it after that date.
• •This money can only be used to fix, rebuild, or replace school buildings that were already being worked on before July 1, 1975.
• •The school buildings that need fixing must be the ones that were checked and found to need repairs under another rule (Section 17367).

Imagine a school had some leftover money from a tax increase in 1974. They were using it to fix the school roof but didn’t finish by July 1, 1975.

The school can still use that leftover money to finish fixing the roof even after July 1, 1975. But they can’t use it for anything else, like buying new computers or building a new playground.
