§ 17329 Professional Oversight Of Construction

Key Takeaways

  • •Plans for buildings must be made by an architect or engineer, and they must sign them.
  • •The same person who made the plans must watch over the building work to make sure it's done right.
  • •If the person who made the plans can't watch the building work, someone else with the same job must do it instead.

Example

You want to build a new house.

An architect draws up the plans for your house and signs them. This same architect must also check on the building work to make sure everything is built the right way. If the architect gets sick and can't do this, another architect has to take over and watch the building work.
