§ 17314 Public School Building Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •If a public school building is approved by the state for safety, it can also be used as a private school.
  • •Private schools don’t need extra local building checks if the building was already okayed for public schools.
  • •This rule makes it easier to turn old public school buildings into private ones.

Example

A town has an empty public school building that was checked and approved by the state for safety.

If someone wants to open a private school in that building, they don’t need to get extra local safety checks because the state already said it’s safe.
