§ 16550 School District Election Certification

Key Takeaways

  • •After an election, the county school boss checks if the school district said 'yes' to getting and spending money from the state.
  • •The boss writes two copies of a paper saying 'yes' or 'no'—one for the school board and one for the state money controller.
  • •Once the school board gets the paper saying 'yes,' the money is officially theirs to use.

Example

A small town votes on whether to accept extra money from the state to fix up their old school buildings.

After the vote, the county school boss checks the results. If the town voted 'yes,' the boss sends a paper to the school board and the state. Once the school board gets the paper, they can start using the money to fix the buildings.
