§ 16314 School Facility Funding Definitions

This law just tells us what certain words mean when the state gives money to fix or replace unsafe school buildings.

Key Takeaways

  • •The State Allocation Board (the “Board”) can change the meaning of these words if needed.
  • •The Director of Education is called the “Director”.
  • •A “District” can be an elementary, high school, or a combined (unified) district.
  • •A “Project” is the work a district wants help paying for to fix or replace unsafe school facilities.
  • •“Apportionment” means the state’s share of money, plus any money the district must add.
  • •An “Attendance center” is just a school at a specific location.

Example

A small town school district asks the state for money to replace a crumbling gym at the local elementary school.

The law says the word “Project” means the work the district wants help paying for, “Attendance center” means the elementary school itself, and “Apportionment” includes both the state money and any money the district has to put in.
