§ 1243 County School Reports Penalty

The law requires a county school superintendent to file a report when asked; if he doesn't, $100 is taken out of his salary.

Key Takeaways

  • •The superintendent must submit the report when directed.
  • •Failure to file results in a $100 salary deduction.
  • •The deduction is taken directly from the salary payment.

Example

A county school superintendent is told by the state education chief to send a report about school funding by Friday. He misses the deadline.

The state chief tells the county auditor that the superintendent didn't file the report. The auditor then removes $100 from the superintendent's next paycheck.

How to Calculate

Deduction = $100

  1. The superintendent fails to file the required report by the deadline.
  2. The Superintendent of Public Instruction notifies the county auditor that the report was not filed.
  3. The auditor deducts $100 from the salary warrant for the superintendent.

Superintendent's original salary warrant is $5,000.

Result: Adjusted warrant = $4,900
