§ 10802 Child Care Data Reporting

This law requires the state education department to set up a system so local schools can give each child a unique statewide ID and report preschool data for state‑ and federally‑funded child‑care programs, with the system in place by Jan 1 2011.

Key Takeaways

  • •The department must create the ID and reporting process by Jan 1 2011.
  • •The process uses the unique statewide pupil identifiers defined in § 60900(e)(3).
  • •All preschool programs run by local education agencies must have their data collected.
  • •Programs won’t be forced to use the IDs until money is set aside for it in the state budget.

Example

A local school district runs a preschool program and needs to assign every child a unique statewide pupil ID and send the required preschool data to the state.

The department will have created a process that tells the district how to create, keep, and report the IDs and the preschool information, so the district can follow it and stay in line with state and federal rules.
