§ 8324 Charitable Trust Reporting Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If a company holds money or stuff for charity, it must follow special rules and report to the Attorney General.
  • •If the company already sends a report to the Attorney General with the same info, it can just send a copy instead of a new report.
  • •If a member of the company asks for a copy of the report, the company must give it to them but can charge a small fee for copying and mailing.

Example

A big company collects money for a charity and has to tell the government how it’s being used.

The company must send a report to the Attorney General about the charity money. If a member of the company asks for a copy of this report, the company has to give it to them but can charge a little for printing and sending it.
