§ 7816 Amending Corporate Articles

Key Takeaways

  • •This law explains how to write down changes to a group's rules.
  • •You can show the changes by writing the whole new rule, just the part that's changing, or adding new rules.
  • •If the change affects people's memberships (like changing their type or canceling them), the new rules must say what happens to those memberships.

Example

A club wants to change its rules so that members have to pay fees every month instead of every year.

The club must write down the change clearly, like saying 'The old rule about yearly fees is gone, and the new rule is monthly fees.' If this change affects current members, the new rules must explain how.
