§ 7130 Nonprofit Corporation Articles Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •A nonprofit mutual benefit corporation must have a name.
  • •It must say what it does, like helping people or doing good things (but not credit union stuff unless it's a credit union).
  • •It needs to have an address in California where important papers can be sent.
  • •It must list where its office is and where to send mail if it's different.

Example

A group of neighbors wants to start a club to clean up their park.

They need to write down the club's name, say it's for cleaning the park, and give an address where official letters can be sent. They also need to say where their club meets and where to send mail if it's not the same place.
