§ 6310 Corporate Record Inspection Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If a company has records that people can ask to see, but those records aren't on paper, the company must print them out or show them on a screen.
  • •The company has to pay for making the records available in a way you can read, like printing or showing on a computer.
  • •Electronic records, like those on a computer screen, count as 'written' records.

Example

You ask a company to see their records about how they spend money, but they only have them on a computer.

The company must print out those records or show them to you on a screen. They can't just say 'no' because it's not on paper. They also have to pay for printing or setting up the screen for you.
