§ 12591 Annual Report Member Rights

This law says that big groups (corporations) must tell their members every year that they can ask for a money report. If a member asks, the group must send them the report quickly.

Key Takeaways

  • •Big groups must tell their members every year that they can ask for a money report.
  • •If a member asks for the report, the group must send it quickly.
  • •The report must show how much money the group has, how much it spent, and where to find a list of members.
  • •Small groups with 25 or fewer members don’t have to follow this rule.

Example

Imagine you are part of a big club that builds things together. Every year, the club must tell you that you can ask for a report about how much money the club made and spent.

If you ask for the report, the club must send it to you within a certain time. The report will show how much money the club has, how much it spent, and where you can find a list of all the members.
