§ 10000 Corporations Sole Governance Rules

• •All corporation sole entities are covered by these rules.
• •The date March 30, 1878 matters for which sections apply.
• •Sections 10002 and 10012‑10015 don’t apply to older corporations unless they chose to stay under the Civil Code or this code.

A church that set up its corporation sole in 1900 must follow all the rules in this part. A church that set up its corporation sole in 1850 only has to follow most of the rules, but it can choose to follow the extra sections (10002 and 10012‑10015) if it decides to keep its existence under the Civil Code or this new code.

The newer church follows every rule. The older church follows most rules, but only follows the special sections if it opted into the new system.
