§ 8552 Multiple Claimant Payment Disputes

Key Takeaways

  • •If many people say they weren't paid for work on a building, they can team up and sue together.
  • •If they sue separately, the court can combine all the cases into one.
  • •The building owner or bank can ask the court to make everyone join the same case so it’s settled all at once.

Example

Three different companies worked on building a new house and say the owner didn’t pay them.

Instead of each company suing the owner one by one, the court can make them all join the same case so the owner doesn’t have to deal with three separate lawsuits.
