§ 8180 Work Of Improvement Completion

Key Takeaways

  • •A construction project is considered 'done' when the work is actually finished.
  • •If the owner starts using the building and stops working on it, the project is done.
  • •If no work is done for 60 days in a row, the project is considered done.
  • •If the project is for the government, it's done when they officially accept it.

Example

A family builds a new house. They move in and stop working on it, even though the paint isn't finished.

The house is considered 'done' because the family moved in and stopped working on it, even if there are small things left to do.
