§ 6810 Assessment Payment Receipt Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If you pay your HOA fees, you can ask for a receipt, and they must give it to you. The receipt should show the date and who took the money.
  • •The HOA must give you an address where you can send your payment quickly if needed.
  • •If you paid your fees on time but the HOA says you didn’t, you won’t have to pay extra money like late fees or interest.

Example

You pay your HOA fees on time but later get a letter saying you owe late fees.

If you can show you paid on time (like with a receipt), the HOA can’t charge you extra money.
