§ 6614 Common Interest Development Declaration

Key Takeaways

  • •If you create a shared housing community (like condos or co-ops) after 1986, you must write down exactly where it is and what type it is.
  • •You must also include the name of the group that manages the community and any rules about how people can use the property.
  • •You can add other rules or details if the people in charge or the members agree.

Example

A group of people wants to build a new condo complex with shared spaces like a pool and a park.

They must write a document that says exactly where the condos are, that it’s a condo project, the name of the group managing it (like 'Sunny Condo Association'), and rules like 'no loud parties after 10 PM' or 'pets must be on a leash.' If they don’t include these details, the rules might not count.
