§ 2210 Space Flight Liability Definitions

This law defines key terms used in the article about space flight participants, injuries, activities, and licensed companies.

Key Takeaways

  • •A participant is someone flying on a licensed space mission.
  • •Participant injury includes physical harm, death, emotional injury, or property damage.
  • •Space flight activities cover launch and reentry services.
  • •A space flight entity is any company with an FAA license for those activities.

Example

A tourist takes a ride on a commercial rocket and gets hurt during the flight.

Because the tourist is a participant, the law says any bodily injury they suffer counts as a participant injury, and the rocket company is treated as a space flight entity that must follow the rules.
