§ 9849 Post-Expiration Registration Enforcement

Key Takeaways

  • •Even if a company's registration expires, the government can still investigate or punish them for breaking rules.
  • •The government can suspend, revoke, or put the company on probation even after their registration ends.
  • •This rule only lasts until January 1, 2028—after that, it goes away.

Example

A car repair shop lets its registration expire but was doing shady business before it expired.

The government can still look into the shop and punish them, even if their registration is no longer valid.
