§ 7835 Geologist Document Preparation Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Only a professional geologist or a licensed certified specialty geologist can make or oversee geology plans, reports, or documents.
  • •These documents must be signed and stamped by the geologist in charge to show they take responsibility for the work.
  • •If someone else helps make the documents, they must work under the direction of the geologist.

Example

A company wants to build a new housing development and needs a report on the land’s stability.

The report must be written or checked by a professional geologist, who then signs and stamps it to show they did the work or supervised it. If they don’t, the report isn’t official, and the company could get in trouble.
