§ 7709 License Suspension For Convictions

Key Takeaways

  • •If you say you're guilty or the court says you're guilty, it counts as a conviction.
  • •The DMV can take away your driver's license or refuse to give you one if you're convicted.
  • •Even if you get probation instead of jail, the DMV can still suspend your license.
  • •Changing your plea later doesn't always fix your license problem.

Example

You get caught driving drunk and plead guilty to avoid a trial.

The DMV will suspend your license because you admitted you were guilty, even if you don’t go to jail.
