§ 7669 Apprentice Reregistration After Suspension

Key Takeaways

  • •If your apprentice certificate is taken away, you can ask to get it back within one year.
  • •You have to follow the current rules and pay the fee again to get it back.
  • •Getting it back doesn’t mean you can stay an apprentice longer than the usual time allowed.
  • •If you lost your certificate because you did something wrong, you might not get full credit for the time you already worked.

Example

Imagine you’re learning to be a plumber, but your apprentice certificate gets taken away because you didn’t follow the rules.

You can ask to get it back within a year if you follow the new rules and pay the fee again. But if you got in trouble for doing something bad, like breaking safety rules, you might only get credit for 75% of the time you already worked.

§ 7669 Apprentice Reregistration After Suspension

An apprentice who has had his or her certificate of apprenticeship suspended or revoked may, within one year after the suspension or revocation apply for reregistration upon compliance with the law in effect at the time he or she so applies and payment of the apprentice application fee fixed by this chapter. No reregistration shall have the effect of continuing an apprenticeship beyond the period specified in Section 7666. The bureau may, when the circumstances warrant, allow an apprentice credit under a reregistration for the time actually served under a previous registration, but if the previous registration has been suspended or revoked for unprofessional conduct, not more than 75 percent of the time previously served shall be credited on the reregistration. (Amended by Stats. 2000, Ch. 568, Sec. 128. Effective January 1, 2001.)
