§ 710 Military Health Training Recognition

Key Takeaways

  • •If you learned medical skills in the military, California wants to help you use those skills as a healthcare worker.
  • •The state will check your military training to see if it matches what’s needed for a healthcare job.
  • •You can work at the highest level your skills allow, just like anyone else with the same training.

Example

A person was a medic in the Army and learned how to treat injuries and give first aid.

California will look at their Army training to see if it’s enough to let them work as a nurse or emergency medical technician (EMT) without starting all over.

To this end, the rules and regulations of boards under this division shall provide for methods of evaluating education, training, and experience obtained in military service if such training is applicable to the requirements of that profession.
