§ 6011 State Bar Executive Director

Key Takeaways

  • •The State Bar has a boss called the 'executive director' who runs the whole thing.
  • •This boss must be a lawyer who works only for the State Bar, not a private law firm.
  • •The boss gets hired for 4 years at a time and can be rehired, but the board can fire them anytime.
  • •The State Bar must tell the Senate when they hire or fire this boss.

Example

Imagine the State Bar is like a big school for lawyers. The principal (executive director) is in charge but can’t also teach at another school (private practice).

If the school board (State Bar board) hires a new principal, they have to tell the government (Senate) about it within a week.
