§ 5088 Out-Of-State Cpa Practice Privilege

Key Takeaways

  • •If you're a licensed accountant from another state, you can work in this state while waiting for your new license.
  • •You can have an office or main workplace here while waiting, and it won’t stop you from working.
  • •The state might let you pay less in fees if you’ve already paid some in another state.

Example

An accountant from Texas moves to California and applies for a California license.

While waiting for California to approve their license, they can still work as an accountant here, even if they open an office in California. They might also pay lower fees if they already paid some in Texas.
