§ 4856 Veterinary Record Inspection Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Vets must let the board check their animal treatment records and drug logs if asked.
  • •The board can also inspect the vet's equipment and drugs at their office or anywhere they work.
  • •This can happen during routine checks or if someone complains about the vet breaking rules.

Example

A pet owner complains that their dog got sick after a vet gave it the wrong medicine.

The board can go to the vet's clinic, look at the dog's treatment records, and check the medicines the vet has to see if they did something wrong.
