§ 40 Board Consultant Agreements

Key Takeaways

  • •Boards can hire experts to help with important decisions, like checking if someone is fit to do their job safely.
  • •These experts can give opinions in hearings, help make tests for licenses, or check if a person is healthy enough to work.
  • •The rules for hiring these experts are different from normal government hiring rules.
  • •The expert’s job doesn’t change just because they’re helping the board.

Example

A doctor applies for a medical license, but the board isn’t sure if they’re healthy enough to work safely.

The board can hire a medical expert to check the doctor’s health and give their opinion. This helps keep patients safe.
