§ 3641 Naturopathic Doctor Recordkeeping Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Naturopathic doctors must keep patient records for at least 7 years after the patient stops seeing them.
  • •For kids under 18, records must be kept until they turn 19 or for 7 years after their last visit, whichever is longer.
  • •Naturopathic doctors must follow the same public health rules as regular doctors, like reporting diseases and doing health checks.

Example

A 10-year-old kid sees a naturopathic doctor for allergies.

The doctor must keep the kid's records until they turn 19, even if they stop visiting the doctor at age 12. If the kid gets a disease that must be reported, the doctor has to tell the health department, just like a regular doctor would.
