§ 2228 Probation Conditions For Podiatrists

Key Takeaways

  • •If a foot doctor (podiatrist) breaks the rules, the board can make them take extra training and pass a test.
  • •The board can also make the doctor get a health check by doctors they choose, but the doctor can also show a check from their own doctor.
  • •The board can limit what kind of work the doctor can do, like not letting them do certain treatments.
  • •Instead of punishment, the doctor might have to do community service, unless they did something wrong with patient care.

Example

A podiatrist keeps making mistakes when treating patients' feet.

The board can make the doctor take extra classes and pass a test to prove they learned. They might also stop the doctor from doing certain treatments until they get better. If the mistakes weren’t about bad care, the doctor might have to do community service instead.

(b) Requiring the licensee to submit to a complete diagnostic examination by one or more physicians and surgeons appointed by the board. If an examination is ordered, the board shall receive and consider any other report of a complete diagnostic examination given by one or more physicians and surgeons of the licensee’s choice. (c) Restricting or limiting the extent, scope, or type of practice of the licensee, including requiring notice to applicable patients that the licensee is unable to perform the indicated treatment, where appropriate. (d) Providing the option of alternative community service in cases other than violations relating to quality of care. (Amended by Stats. 2007, Ch. 678, Sec. 19. Effective January 1, 2008.)
