§ 19853 Gambling Enterprise Registration Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you work with or provide things to a gambling place (like a casino) and get paid based on how much money they make, you might need to register with the government or get a special license.
  • •If you own part of the building where gambling happens, or do business there (like selling food or souvenirs), you might also need to register or get a license.
  • •If the government thinks you have a lot of control over how the gambling place runs, they can make you get a license too.
  • •Big companies that work with casinos might have to get licenses, and even their bosses or big shareholders might need to as well.

Example

You own a small shop inside a casino that sells snacks and souvenirs. The casino pays you extra money based on how much they earn from gambling that month.

Because you get paid based on the casino’s earnings and you do business inside the casino, the government can make you register or get a special license to keep doing this.
