§ 19813 Commission Member Terms Appointments

Key Takeaways

  • •Some members start with shorter terms (2, 3, or 4 years), but after that, everyone serves for 4 years.
  • •The Governor picks who’s on the team, but the Senate has to say yes first.
  • •If someone on the team isn’t doing their job, is bad at it, or is dishonest, the Governor can kick them off—but only after telling them why and letting them explain.

Example

Imagine a school club where the principal picks 5 kids to be leaders.

The principal picks 2 kids to lead for 2 years, 2 for 3 years, and 1 for 4 years. After that, all new leaders get 4 years. If a leader skips meetings or cheats, the principal can remove them—but only after telling them why and listening to their side.
