§ 17923 Partner Withdrawal Filing

Key Takeaways

  • •If you're a partner in a business using a fake name (not your real name), you can officially say you're leaving the business by filing a paper.
  • •You have to file this paper in the same county where the business first filed its fake name.
  • •The paper must include the fake business name, when it was first filed, the business address, and your name and address.
  • •You also have to publish this in a newspaper like the business did when it started, and then show proof to the county.

Example

Imagine you and your friend start a lemonade stand called 'Super Lemonade' (which isn't your real names). Later, you decide to leave the business.

You have to fill out a form saying you're leaving 'Super Lemonade,' give details like when the stand started and where it is, and then put a notice in the newspaper. This way, everyone knows you're no longer part of the business.
