§ 17701 Coupon Issuer Identification Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't give out coupons unless they clearly say who will accept them.
  • •The person or group accepting the coupon must be listed on the coupon.
  • •The person or group must be either the one giving the coupon, a real group that's been around for at least 6 months, or a business that makes coupons.

Example

You get a coupon for a free burger at a restaurant.

The coupon must say which restaurant will give you the free burger. It can't just say 'free burger' without naming the place.
