§ 1670 License Discipline Procedures

Key Takeaways

  • •If you have a professional license (like a doctor, nurse, or lawyer), you can lose it if you do a bad job, mess up a lot, or act unprofessionally.
  • •The board that gave you the license can punish you by taking it away, suspending it, or giving you a warning.
  • •If the board made a mistake and gave you a license by accident, they can take it back.
  • •There are rules for how these punishments happen, and the board follows those rules.

Example

A doctor keeps making mistakes with patients, like giving the wrong medicine or not checking their symptoms carefully.

The doctor’s license could be taken away or suspended because they are being careless and not doing their job well. This is to keep patients safe.
