§ 1656 Dental Radiation Safety Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Dentists and people who take X-rays in a dentist's office must learn how to do it safely.
  • •They can either take a special class approved by the state or have passed a test before 1985.
  • •The class must teach both the rules and how to actually take X-rays the right way.

Example

A new dental assistant starts working at a dentist's office and needs to take X-rays of patients' teeth.

Before they can take X-rays, they must either take a special class on how to do it safely or show they passed a test before 1985. This makes sure they know how to use the X-ray machine without hurting anyone.
