§ 155 Department Investigative Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The boss of a department can hire people to check if others are breaking the rules the department handles.
  • •These rule-checkers can work directly for the department or be hired from outside, like contractors.
  • •If someone already works as a rule-checker and their job moves because of this law, they keep their job and rights.
  • •The main investigators can still check anyone, even if others are also doing checks.

Example

A store is selling expired food, which breaks health rules.

The health department can send their own workers or hire outside people to check the store and make sure they follow the rules. If the store is breaking the rules, these checkers can report it.
