§ 10200 License Fee Payment Terms

You have to pay the real estate license fee before you get the license and when you file the application, and the license ends at midnight on the last day of its term unless something else says otherwise.

Key Takeaways

  • •Pay the license fee before the license is issued and when you file the application.
  • •Licenses end at midnight on the last day of the period they cover.
  • •If another rule says something different, that other rule wins.

Example

Jane applies for a real estate license on March 1 and pays the fee at that time. Her license is good for one year, so it stops being valid at 12:00 am on March 1 of the next year.

Jane follows the rule by paying the fee when she files her application, and her license automatically expires at midnight on the last day of the one‑year period.
