§ 10178 Broker Disciplinary Reporting

Key Takeaways

  • •If a real estate agent breaks the rules, their boss (the broker) must tell the state about it in writing.
  • •If the boss doesn’t tell the state, the boss can lose their license—either for a little while or forever.
  • •The boss has to send the report right away, not later.

Example

A real estate agent lies to a customer about a house’s price to make a quick sale.

The agent’s boss finds out and fires them. The boss must then write down what happened and send it to the state. If the boss doesn’t send the report, the state can take away the boss’s license to sell houses.
